The President of the Republic, Omar Bashir, on Friday received the state
minister at the ministry of Federal government Chamber, Abul Gasim Al
Imam, the Head of the Sudan Liberation Army- Second Revolution Front,
and discussed with him efforts underway to implement the Doha peace
accord in Darfur in particular.
He told the Sudan News agency (SUNA) that the meeting also reviewed the security arrangements related to his movement and how it could be given an impetus to convert into a political party.
He said the meeting also discussed formation of the various commissions particularly those related to the voluntary return of refugee and displaced persons, and provision of services to the areas were those IDPs and refugees are returning to their home villages in Darfur.
He added that the region was currently witnessing a stability and security following the recent campaign to collect unlicensed firearms from individuals and referred to efforts for rehabilitation of areas affected by the conflict there.
