Spotlight: Addiction among Youth ... Treatment and Rehabilitation

Addiction is one of the social issues threat societies’ worldwide.   It is a physical or psychological need to do
, take or use something or may be to see or hear or to love somebody, to the point where it could be harmful to you. People particularly the youth may spend lots of hours each day and night surveying the internet, playing games, or at chat rooms, while neglecting other aspects of their lives.
Addition to drugs is one of the most serious. It is a chronic disease characterizes by seeking and use that is compulsive, or difficult to control despite harmful consequences. It also causes serious damage to families, relationships, schools, institutes and Universities, workplaces and neighborhoods. The most common symptoms of addiction are severe loss of control, continued use despite serious consequences. Efforts are still being exerted to curb this phenomenon.
It can be effectively prevented, treated and managed by health care centers in combination and collaboration with family. But the most severe and tough form of addition is a physical, often chronic, disease that most often require intensive and long term treatment .
Despite the fact that several International conferences, workshops and seminars are organize to discuss such social diseases affected the whole world, its threats are still going on.  It is one of the diseases of the age, it spreads in different communities rich and poor countries, in different ages and for different causes and motives. It effects on the addict’ behavior for continuous need to this killing disease.
In Sudan many organizations are working to combat the impact of this issue on the youths. Bitmakaly National Organization is one these non-governmental organizations work in the field . The most recent activity is the first International Conference for Drugs Abuse and Rehabilitation ICDAR in the Afro-Arab world, held in the period from 23rd-25th October 2018, at the Higher Academy for Strategic and Security Studies in Khartoum. The theme is the challenges of Addiction Treatment and Rehabilitation. Many scientific working papers are presented. Participants from the Afro- Arab World reviewed their experiences in combating the phenomena.  
They shed light on the threats and the means of combating pointed to the importance of joint efforts. Sudan will benefit from such forums which enhance the efforts of heath, police and security sectors to curb or reduce this chronic issue.
Such issues need urgent and continuous campaigns of awareness among the youth and to involve them as part of the solution not to consider them the issue itself. Let us shake hands with Dr. Lubna Ali Abul Rahaman , the Sudanese – Canadian , president of Bitmakly national Organization for the invitation to attend the conference and before that to appreciate her great continuous efforts in Sudan and abroad as a Sudanese bright image for the Sudanese woman to address this chronic severe issue threats youth not only in Sudan , but the whole world
