Mr Irfan Siddiq OBE has been appointed Her Majesty’s Ambassador to Sudan

Mr Irfan Siddiq OBE has been appointed Her Majesty’s Ambassador to Sudan in succession to Mr Michael Aron who will be transferring to another Diplomatic Service appointment. Mr Siddiq will take up his appointment in April 2018.

VP says all services to be provided for the Abyei area population

The Vice president of the Republic Hassabou Mohamed Abdul Rahman, on Thursday underlined that all basic services be provided for the inhabitants of Abyei, in an inclusive manner so that the region would be a place of genuine coexistence between the Sudan and south Sudan

The vice president, Hassabou, received the head of the Abyei Joint Committee Engineer Hassan Ali Nimir who briefed him on the overall situation there in the region with particular emphasis on the security and provision of services as well as the social situation there
.
Nimir pointed out that the vice president has directed that there should be continued interaction between the components of the local communities there and to follow up the implementation of the 2017 plans.

He said he has briefed the vice president on the outcome of the recent meeting held in Addis Ababa between the two parties in the oversight committee from the Sudan and south sudn and the process of the implementation of the outcome of that meeting

He said the committee is visiting the area as of march to get a firsthand information about the services and development projects carried out there as well as the formation of the popular committee in the area

He said the meeting underlined the need to focus on the living conditions of the people and to give a special attention to the coexistence and outreach with different parties of concern to the region's
